Terrible sound from Surface 2 speakers

I have had the Surface 2 for a couple of months now and like everything except the speakers. I'm not an audio snob by any means but the sound is so tinny and weak that it is annoying to watch any video or listen to any music. I don't feel like carrying around a bluetooth speaker with me either. We have a first gen IPad in the house and a couple of Kindle Fire's and they all have much better sound. Even the sound on my 920 is better. A lot of the initial reviews for the Surface 2 mentioned that the speakers were actually a selling point but it is not what I have found. I can't decide if it's just a bad unit and I should just exchange it or if it is just a shortcoming of the Surface 2. Is this a problem anyone else is experiencing?

I find its pretty weak too. Low max volume and absolutely no bass.
LOL I never expect any bass out of a 4mm speaker.

The best speakers of any tablet that I've owned is on the Kindle Fire HD 7". If that's a "10", then Surface is a "7". (iPad4 is a "6")

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It looks like it actually was a bad set of speakers. Recently the right speaker started to sound even worse so I called Microsoft tech support. They walked me through a bunch of tests and decided to just send me a new one under the warranty. I received it yesterday and it sounds way better than my original one. It is definitely now on par with the other tablets we have. Totally happy with the Surface 2 now. Only wish I had called tech support sooner.
