Text to speech using Windows Live Messenger?

I use Windows Live Messenger v2011 (15.4.3538.513) on my Windows 7 PC. I recently upgraded my Focus v1.3 to Mango and noticed that when I was chatting w/someone using WLM on my PC, my Focus was notifying me (via text to speech) about my chat. I had my Bluetooth headset on at the time. It was like they were text messaging me, but I was using WLM. I was able to respond to him by just speaking into my headset. Once the chat was over, I took a look @ the thread on my phone and it did show that I was using Messenger and not text to communicate w/him.

I chatted w/another friend a few minutes later, but this time my phone did not use text to speech. I checked the setting on my phone and on WLM, but I didn't see anything that would trigger the use of text to speech. Has anyone experienced this?
