Huge annoyance, maybe someone can tell me how to fix this (if it's possible).

I notice if someone texts me and I reply, I have HTC's very nice/sleek texting interface. If I go in and make a new text before selecting a contact, it's winmo's ugly, horrific looking interface. Is there anyway to make it always revert to HTC's?

Sorry, but I don't think there is. From what I understand, on the outside you get the HTC shell. But once get deep into things, you start to uncover winmo's interface. What you can do is Youtube the winmo's 6.5 update coming in Oct. and see if you can find a video that shows a shot of what the new interface for text look like. I think that's the only chance of getting a new look. Again, I can be wrong.

Argh, lame. I'm not even "digging deep" into the interface to get to Winmo. I just go to make a new text and it goes right to that.

I agree, this is really annoying. To avoid seeing the ugly and jam packed winmo screen, I disabled the on screen notification of new text messages, and now go to the messaging tab of TF3D and scroll through all my messages to see which ones are new.

This is obnoxious and if someone comes up with a solution, so I can hit the pop-up notification to bring up the TP3D threaded view, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

use manilla 2.5. when you click "new message" or even "all messages" it takes you to the tf3d interface. if you are using a gsm tp2 then hard spl is out so you are all set and can install a new rom with manilla 2.5. if you are using a cdma pro2 then you'll just have to wait a little longer for a hard spl package. A new ROM is the only way to go as I don't believe there is cab for 2.5, well for wvga anyway

The ugly WinMo SMS interface does have one advantage: if you're in the middle of typing a longish text and need to switch away, you can do it safely. My main annoyance with the sleek HTC version is that anything you type is wiped if you move away from that screen. For me, this is especially aggravating because the Exchange server I use enforces a security policy, so if my TP2 goes into standby, it defaults back to the Home screen.

Wait... I can't believe I just defended a Windows Mobile default app!

What about the SPB shell... does it revert to WinMo?
