In my profile, it says I currently have:
Total Thanks: 510
Thanked 686 Times in 385 posts.

Exactly how can the total thanks be 510 if I've been thanked 686 times? Is there a method of calculating this that I don't understand? What number is used in the statistics? Are there certain thanks that are disqualified?

Sounds like the stats are off somehow, then. Not syncing properly with the database.

I received 2 thanks during a brief time of browsing earlier, but they never showed up in my total thanks. I know they were on these forums because I pulled up the posts where I was thanked.

Perhaps the "Thanks X times in X posts" includes article comments and up votes?

Okay, figured it out for those who read this thread and suddenly became concerned.

Total Thanks is how many thanks you have given others.
Thanked X times in X posts is how many times others have thanked you.
