"this mms doesn't contain any text" for group messaging is annoying!

So on Android, I get a message before receiving every group text mms that says this mms doesn't contain any text and then the regular message comes through after that. I understand this for pictures but it's annoying for group messaging. I noticed I don't get this if I use hangouts and textra, but for Google messages and Verizon messages it has this glitch. Is there a setting I can change? I prefer the two latter messaging apps but getting double messages is annoying. Anyone else have this issue?

I've had the Band 2 since late last November, and this has frustrated me since then as well ... I was surprised that when I finally got around to trying to find a resolution, your post is the only thing I'm really seeing ... if I ever figure it out I'll let you know.
