Thoughts on Windows Defender?

Should I continue using Windows Defender as my main security or buy elsewhere?

I've been using the Windows Defender since the beginning of Windows 10. Until now my laptop is fine. So many thumb drive has been plugged into my laptop (well, college right?), still my laptop is doing well.

I've always used a free Antivirus program like Avast or Avira on top of Windows Defender but for the past year I've just used Windows Defender alone on my Surface Pro 2 and as far as I can tell its been fine. Occasionally I'll install and run a virus scan with another program just to make sure Defender is doing its job and it has

I've found Windows Defender to be good enough that I haven't used a third party antivirus for years.
