Trade in your MS Band 1 / Fitbit / Any other wearable for huge discount on MS Band 2 in UK

from the small print: "For your Trade-in to qualify for the promotion it must be a working, complete and undamaged Microsoft Band"

well, presumably cause MS themselves, only classed this as wear and tear, then the rubber having peeled off on my 2 month old band doesnt get classed as "damage" - they cant have it both ways - mine should be a successful trade in then @ ?70 discount

This appears to be more of a ?70 Windows Store credit against future purchases, not ?70 off of the Band 2.

Although, I've read the small print several times and it's late :)

It definitely uses the word cashback, but then the offer on the MS Store page has this:
"Any appraised value will be determined at trade-in and provided as a Microsoft online store redemption code and is valid online only."

Confusing

The How it works page says "Your claim will be paid within 28 days of validation to your nominated bank account". So it sure sounds like "cash back", not just credit.

And then there's this Fine print.

Some highlights:
  • A maximum of three claims may be submitted per household.
  • This Promotion is open to residents of mainland UK and Northern Ireland only
  • Purchases made from auction websites (e.g. eBay) or marketplace sales through retail websites (e.g. Amazon Marketplace or PlayTrade) are specifically excluded from this promotion.
  • For your Trade-in to qualify for the promotion it must be a working, complete and undamaged
  • Qualifying products must be of original United Kingdom localised specification. Imported/ grey market products are not eligible for the promotion.

Although I bought mine from the USA I have since returned it for a replacement. The original box however would identify it as being from the USA I presume and therefore not eligible for the trade in?

You would need to upload a receipt to the trade-in website as well, so anything imported or from Ebay is excluded.

I've seen newer Bands going on Ebay for ?70-90 (in auctions) and other sellers trying to sell them for over ?100.
I'm not sure how much a used one would go for though.

By the time I get my Band 2 my old one will only be a few months old. CEX will buy for ?46 not sure about Game.

I have a Fitbit Surge the band was breaking so I used the warranty to get a replacement which I sold on ebay. I've preordered the Band 2 and am hoping MS will offer the trade in here in the states. Anyway just an idea on how to reduce the cost for others.
