Transferring data, images and Messages from a 920 to active 950

Can anyone help me on doing this? I don't want to overwrite the existing data and all the guides I've seen deal with migrating on the first start up? Thank you in advance

Are they both using the same MS account?

If so use OneDrive and there is no real need to "migrate", I have only just got a 950 XL from a 1520, I admit it was a new unused phone but I was up and running with nearly everything in no time.

I am sure others will help more, but the more info you can give the better the answers.

They are not @Bobvfr. My 920 was set up before i took the same account approach for my laptops, xbox and 950 phone. Is that a problem?

Sorry not an expert on this, but at least the main question has been answered.

For your photo's you could easily transfer them to a PC and then to the new phone (If you need to) or just put them in OneDrive, I am sure the messages are linked to your account, but maybe the migrate process can bypass this, again with data it would depend on if it was account linked or standard files, if you mean files again you could copy to PC.

But as I said, I haven't done this and as you already have a live phone, it is wise to look before you leap.

How much data is on the 950, would it be a pain to start over, or if you got the photo's sorted a pain to let the 920's data go. I am sure someone else has been through this and will be along at some time to help.

Thank you Bob. The sticking point would be saving the text messages and pictures before I even thought about a factory reset. Does the 950 come with a PC suite that would allow this to be done Via USB?

Right! I have managed to All messages, sms, and mms consacts across by using the export to sd option on the 950, and then re importing, which then made the phone 'See' the data.

However, I now have all the 920 videos and images on the onedrive rather than my 950 phone. Is there a way to download them all in one go to the phone?
