Triggering Cortana from Lock screen

Has anyone else had trouble triggering Cortana with the screen locked? When I press and hold the search button the phone seems like it want to launch Cortana (makes a sound) but it can't. This also seems to possibly affect using bluetooth headsets with Cortana as well. Any ideas?
