There's also Turtle Blog Viewer, which is a rather nice alternative. I'd say it's a bit more fleshed out than sapphire, but the ui is somewhat unpleasant.

I suppose it is a great app, but it will not accept my username and password on the phone. I can log in through Tumblr.com, but not with the Sapphire app.

My only problem with Sapphire is the lack of animated GIFs for the most part. But its beautiful.
I also use Turtle.

I had the same issue. Resolved by logging into the mobile website on the same phone - it required a captcha to let me log in correctly - and then instantly trying again using Sapphire.
