Type cover 2 issues

Hi Guys,

I'm having some issues with my type cover 2, and I'm not sure if it's the actual keyboard itself or just the software/drivers. I have started to notice that after the last firmware update (in March, I think?) for the SP2 my type cover 2 has been acting up lately. Sometimes I notice when I use Illustrator for example it seems like the keys stick down (not physically, but in terms of the software) as if I am holding the Shift key to get a straight line for example, sometimes I'll have to tap it again to be able to switch tools. Although this issue seems fixed to Illustrator, I have had a few instances where in Word 2013 and IE11 (modern) the keys will stick down. Also I notice that sometimes it seems like the keyboard completely goes funny (like if I want to paste something in Word by using Ctrl + V it brings up the research panel instead). I have uninstalled the type cover 2 filter device driver (can't seem to reinstall it though, anyone know how to do that?) and it seems to have made little difference. Detaching and re-attaching the cover fixes these problems for a while, but sometimes it gets annoying given it was working perfectly before. The SP2 and cover are both 3 months old, on Windows 8.1 Update 1. Any ideas?

Cheers guys!! :D

I think it is a problem with the cover itself. Wonder why you haven't changed it as of yet. Kudos if it solves the problem. Try to search bing or google on how to reinstall the driver. It is pretty darn easy.

I also noticed the same thing since yesterday when I started to use my Type Cover 2 heavily (because I have a publication due today)

However, I use a first gen Surface Pro. It's just a week old but wiped and installed (with recovery partition, image and all) Win8.1 update 1.

I've Bing'd this and people have reported this on the Type Cover 2. I have yet to hear of any official word from MSFT if the Type Cover 2 has an inherent defect. A common theme I noticed with those who experienced said issue is that they use a bluetooth mouse. True enough, I also first had this issue after I started using a bluetooth mouse. Do you use a bluetooth mouse as well?

I've looked further into this, looks like it's an isolated bug to do with the drivers and software. I was using a regular USB mouse before and it would still stick down unfortunately....

I was able to replicate the problem on my side. When it happens I found an icon in the notification are (next to the clock) under the "Up" arrow.
It is FilterKey that auto enables it self.
Open accessibility center, and make sure that Filter key is disabled

Hi jojoe42,

just a quick question, how did you resolve the problem with the keys getting stock? I always use Photoshop and it annoys me. The keys get stock, I have to press it again to release it. I hope to hear from you, your help will be highly appreciated. Thank you

Haven't found a solution yet, I did reinstall the type cover drivers, and that seemed to make it occur less often though. I'm just living with it, it only happens once every two weeks or so now so it's bearable
