Hi,

I am getting a Nokia 1520 and I was curious about how unbranding works and what it all means, I think I get that it removes all carrier information from the device but does that mean if say I want to:

1) Use an Aio, AT&T or Cricket SIM, it won't show the carriers name when using it at all? Just the bars?
2) Is it possible if the above isn't to remove the carrier information regardless of what SIM is in it with regards to the signal bar and all that in the upper left hand corner?

Thank you!

When you have a SIM in it will tell you what carrier you are on. I travel a lot and when I have roaming on it tells me who the carrier is. Both in the top left (I have a L920) and on the call icon.

Unbranding basically means removing the carrier information in the About section of the phone and making it so you're not reliant on carriers to receive updates.

I unbranded a 1020 from Three UK that I use on O2. It removed the carrier start up screen, and as you suggest, also the top left carrier indicator, so now my screen is like this:
