Why not check eBay? You can get a Green 32gig model in good condition for about $175

I can PM you the link. The green models are logically the better option for ppl buying a used 1520 in 2016, since the green models went on sale in late 2014 and all 1520 stopped sales from ATT in mid to late 2015

After receiving the ATT 1520 just send an ATT unlock request (extremely easy and simple and you don't need to be the original owner) and you should receive an emailed response as soon as a few hours to as late as a day or two.

I'm not sure of the exact time frame.

Every time I've sent in a request I got my emailed unlock code within 3-6 hours

I'll sell you my RM-940 1520 for $160 that is currently wearing a white back but I'll include a yellow and black one if you want to change out. Currently it is kept in a black hard shell case that I will also include. I have posts with pics on the forums here if you want a pic and an idea of what I have done with it. All bands are active and I get LTE in Dallas on T-mobile with it. It's used but it does work perfectly with no phantom touch (unless you have the hard shell on crooked and it's bending the screen). Why am I selling it? Late last year I had a pretty bad medical issue and I have medical bills to contend with.

Scrubby - sorry to hear of your issues - Godspeed for a complete, and hopefully, quick recovery.

As to your phone, that is a screaming deal. If I were the OP, or I had $160 laying around, I'd be all over it.

[h=1]ScrubbyXD - I'm searching for those pics, but so far I've only found the ones where you sold a 1520 in June-July '15. Also I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm looking on ebay, but would need another one for my wife. Anyone with a link to pics of his present 1520 would be greatly appreciated.[/h]

Was ready to pull the trigger until DW changed her mind and now wants the 640 XL new. She has let her fear of buying used affect her decision on a used 1520 now. I'm set on finding an RM-938 for a good price. I'll settle for a 32GB RM-940.

A mod can remove this post if it's not allowed but check out B&H Photo for an unlocked 640xl for your wife with Band 12 support. Also cheaper than the MS store, for a new one LOL. If she doesn't mind an AT&T one, check out blinq for her. Also cheaper than the MS store.

I have a 640 and have repaired a few 640xls so I will share some experience. The 1520 will give you an extra day battery life, and has a better screen (daylight mode gets very washed out on the 640s). The 640xl will be noticeably slower when used to a 1520. The extra storage on the 1520 is negligible as an SD card expands storage fine. The 640xl screen (despite gorilla glass) is actually more fragile so watch out there. What you do get in exchange for all the shortcomings is the ability to claim it is new and the privilege of paying more for it.

For you on the 1520 front don't bother paying extra based on the 32GB storage as a class 10 SD card expands fine with no practical speed difference. YMMV on any other reason.

You may also consider we are days away from the announcement of the 650.

I had DW watch some comparison videos on YT to make sure she is okay with the 640XL. I had her play with one at a MS store a while back. I'm letting her sleep on it tonight before I make a purchase. She really wants the 950XL, however I'm not ready to give up that much money yet. The 650 seems to be a downgrade to the 640XL per some posts and links on here. So far Expansys has the best deal for the 640XL at $199 (non-opened box).

As for the 1520, I really want the RM-938. I would settle for the RM-940 though. I've been spoiled with 32GB from my time with my old 928 and Icon. I actually loved those phones. I figured the 1520 could keep me happy until the Surface phone comes out or the 950XL becomes more affordable. I am also looking for a proven reliable and fast 128GB micro SD card to use. I'm told that the Lexar is too slow in real world use.

If you two care for warranties, B&H provides one for every phone they sell for a year. They basically match the MS warranty. It looks like if you wanted that from Expansys, it would be extra money. Something to think about but I wish you luck with your decisions!

Looks like the extended warranty makes them both even in price. Thanks for the heads up.

Well she has at least settled on a red purse case for the 640XL.

Then she went back to sleep.

I've found my 1520 case and am still looking for the SD card. Hopefully I can have a phone purchased for me before the beginning of the 2nd game on Sunday!

I agree with Scrubby - the SD offsets the need for more onboard storage. 32GB 1520's are hard to find, and the extra cost may not be worth it. What Scrubby didn't say too is that the camera is much better on the 1520.

The 640XL is a nice phone, no doubt, and she will like it, I'm sure. One thing to note with the XL is that it only has 8GB of storage, so you will be doing everything on the SD card.

Not to take the thread too far out of topic, but I find it unusual that the new flagship (as things stand of this date) is not a significant improvement over the 1520 on 8.1. To date the 1520/930 running 8.1 is faster, smoother, delivers a better experience, and more reliable than the new 950s. As things stand I have no desire to buy a 950 nor upgrade and of my phones to 10. I'm sure I'm alone on thinking the 1520 is still the best to date.

I think I just talked myself out of selling mine.

Rats, I would have been interested especially if it was the Lumia 1520.3.

I have a yellow RM-938 (the factory unlocked one with built in Qi). It is in excellent shape, has a Nilikin black case and screen protector. Unfortunately it fell off my desk onto a carpeted floor and the screen no longer registers touch inputs. Might be a simple fix, but I don't have time to work on it (4 month old twins at home, so not much time for anything else). I have two more screen protectors I will include with it, a brand new Sandisk 64GB microSD card, and a "rugged" case that I got on Amazon but never used. All yours for $150. Let me know.
