Updates once unlocked

Hi,

I recently unlocked my phone (Lumia 520) from 3 UK to use on Vodafone, once my phone is unlocked do I still get my updates from 3 do I get them direct from Nokia or from Vodafone?

I was just wondering as I know GDR3 is coming soon... hopefully! but wasn't sure what carrier I had to wait for to release the update.

Go to Settings -> About

If it still has your carrier as 3 UK then you're still stuck to when they decide to release updates. I wouldn't complain too much though, they were first or second off the block with updates in the last round. I'm on EE, please pity me.... :/

A further part to the answer is that you can reflash your unlocked phone to a carrier-independent version of the firmware, then the updates come to you when Nokia releases them, rather than the carrier. I have an ex-3 phone with generic UK firmware, and received the Black update this week.
