Updating Lumia 640

Got a Lumia 640. Want to update it to windows 10. It's running on wp 8.1 ver 8.10.15148.160. Can I directly update to w10m build 10586.494

Pretty sure it's still two stage. 107 first i think. Install the Upgrade Advisor tool and see if that will kick it off for you.

Any idea about how much size it has?

First update from 8.1 to 10, size around 1.5 GB after that small update having 100 to 200 MB size.

in addition to the 1.7Gb total OS update size, there will be dozens of apps which will need to be updated and that can take a lot more data too depending on the apps, so expect a total of 3GB to be used up easily
