Upgrade from lumia 920 to 640 XL?

Hello,

I have been using my lumia 920 since the release day and even if I still like it (except for the battery time that seems to get worse for each day) I would like to try something new. That's why I have been thinking about the Lumia 640 XL and it looks like a solid phone.

So I wonder:

• People that have used lumia 920, does 640 XL feel like an upgrade? I have a hard time to figure out if it actually is an upgrade when looking at specs.
• How is the battery time compared to lumia 920?
• I guess 640 XL is kind of a budget phone, is it better to wait for something else? I'm asking because my company let me buy a phone every third year for 375 euro and this one only seems to cost 210. If I should just wait and use up it all on something "bigger".

I'm no hardcore user - I mostly use the internet, develop some of my own apps and I think the apps I have downloaded the past 2 years can be counted on one hand. But it always fun with something new and this one is gonna get windows phone 10 right?

It isn't necessarily a upgrade.
But the battery life is definitely a huge upgrade and if that's a priority then 640 XL is great.
But seeing that u can spend up to 375 euro why not get a 1520/930? They are much better phones and by now should cost pretty close to 400 euro.

Yeah battery life is one of the big reasons why I want to upgrade and it seems like 640 XL have a good one.

But I looked a bit at 930 and it seems really good too, will that one also get a free windows phone 10 upgrade or is that just for 640? One of the boring things with 930 is that it's so similar to my 920, just a bit bigger.

Actually all lumias including ur current Lumia 920 gets W10 upgrade for free.
And 930 is a huge step up from 920 and way more future proof than the 640 XL.
The only trouble is the 930 battery life which isn't too good but for a non poweruser its decent.
But do have a look at 1520 its just perfect in every way if u can live with the large screen(not too bigger than XL). And its got the best battery life on a smartphone at the moment.

. The 930 will get the windows 10 upgrade. And honestly to me, the 930 is a HUGE upgrade from the 920. They might have almost the same form factor but the 930,feels amazingly premium with the metal bezel, 4 mics, 20 megapixel camera, hey Cortana active listening, premium build and 1080p screen.
On the surface, it may seem like they are all the same and I would be inclined to say so at first glance but they are not. It is an upgrade in my opinion. Check it out and look at some reviews and comparison videos. Not a perfect phone of course but it serves my purposes.

If battery is your concern then the 930 is a bad choice. Either buy a 1520 or the 830, 730/735 is not bad either

when comparing a 920 over battery, 640XL also wins. As I have ditched my 920 after 2-3 weeks usage coz of battery and OS issues which are really bad. Also, the front cam of 640XL came with 5Mp which is taking rich selfies. I tried 730 at a store but it didn't surprised me much, where as 1520 did in past. As the OS is getting richer every now and then with updates. Let's hope the best comes very soon.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. When I look at the specs of 930 (that is clearly better) and that everyone suggest it I'm a bit tempted. But I won't want to be stuck again with a phone that drains out before I'm even off from work again. And as I'm not a power user (don't play any games or anything) I don't see any reason to have all that process power. The only thing I don't like with 640 XL is the 8 gb storage that feels a bit weak.

I like the look of 1520 but sadly it is really hard to get here. I can't find a single site that sell them so I guess they are out of the question.

Even I am worried at first but i stuffed device with 32 Gb now and installing apps that are only helpful. Battery is like heaven for me in this device. i chat for around 4-5 hrs and even after that, my device looks like charm. I charge it for once a day with heavy usage. Runs on WiFi or 3G network.

Where do u live? TBH 1520 is the perfect choice and worth the hassle once u get one. Otherwise wait for maybe 3 months and get the 740/840 which should be a lot more future proof than 640 XL.
But if spending less than allotted money is okay then 640 XL fits ur needs quite well.

I live in Sweden so I find it a bit strange that no one have it. We usually have most phones but I guess lumia phones isnt that popular here.

Thanks for all answers, it's still two weeks till 640 XL is released here so I still have some time to think about it.

I would suggest getting a RM-984 variant Lumia 830 from eBay, they are going pretty cheap and have OIS built in for the camera.
