Using iPodcast as a general music player?

Is this possible? Reason I ask is that like to play three hour radio programmes I have ripped to MP3 and the native music player does not have a moveable playbar to allow you to move the playpoint to anywhere in the recording, whereas the player in iPodcast does.

Update: Recently learned from another topic on here that you can move the play point on the standard music player by pressing and holding the |<< and >>| controls. Now, why wasn't that useful info included with the app itself? :unhappy:
