I think you are confusing RAM and Flasrom. In Android you can use an SD card as an extension to your flashrom (after rooting your device). In an unrooted device you can save some apps on your SDcard, to save flashrom. Now, in WP8.1, you can also save apps to your SDcard so you have more flashrom left. But you can never use an SDcard as RAM.

though on android the card corrupts easily causing issues but on WP even though it happened to me twice this week it fixed itself somehow

In a nutshell, the OP wants a swapfile that sits on the SD card, much like Windows has on the hard disk.

We should team up more often ;-)

I can easily describe the performance of WP using such a technique. Run Windows Vista Ultimate in 128MB of RAM and a full size background. It ain't pretty.......

Haha is that even possible... To run vista on 128mb ram lol

Crawl, maybe but run - nah lol. But it is possible, though why you would want to I don't know.

I know you can install XP in far less by editing one of the setup files. That's fun. My basic point is, that is the sort of performance you would get if you could use swap memory on WP.

Hmmm...... My 7 year old hp desktop came with 512mb ram and Windows Vista home 🏠 basic. It ran quote well without any lag(regular use, no gaming). Upgraded it later to 4gb ram, an NVIDIA GT 520 2gb graphic card, and Windows Vista Ultimate SP2.The performance was blazing fast. Dunno why people criticize vista so much,I feel it is the same as win 7....

The reputation of Vista was forever tarnished. (used on main family desktop for several years until it died a few months ago.) It's like 8, people say it's bad and sucks and whatever, but its something that just propagated and nothing MS can do will really fix it. Just rename the next Windows "9" and people will probably be more willing to accept it.

I was actually toying with the idea of running Vista just to mess with people. But I like my Windows 8.

I actually made Vista SP2 my main OS some few months ago. I missed so many things from W7 and 8. Anyway, about the performance ... It actually is slower. 7 and 8 know how to use the CPU much better. I had a lot of random spikes for no obvious reasons. Also the I/O was terrible. I could see it wrecking my HDD. If you tried to do anything too intensive the hard would hard-lock for a few seconds from time to time.

I'm much happier now on my 8.1.1 x64.

Home basic has Aero disabled so you don't have the overhead from that causing performance issues. Also 512MB is what I would call an absolute bare minimum.

Looks as though the OP has had the question pretty much answered.
Thanks to everyone for participating.
