Using OneNote on SP3

I am wondering, being a newbie or having been away from Microsoft for 5+years, if there is a way to send a PDF file or other document to OneNote so that when I am in a meeting, I can reference my document for the meeting (questions I want to ask, numbers, etc) and mark up with hand written notes the document.

I tried the Send to OneNote feature and it worked..except, the document was so small, I could not read it. There was not way to enlarge it and make it readable for me.

We use Call Plans via SFDC, and then, when I am done filling it out, I Print it and save the Printed Version as a file. At that point, I have used Evernote from my older Android Tablet (Note 10.1) and was able to fully view the document and mark it up. Evernote doesn't have that feature for SP3 and therefore, I am using OneNote, and quite frankly, I like it a little better with the better pen and instant on feature.

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong or another way of doing this?

Did you try inserting the file instead of sending it to onenote?

I believe so. I just saved the printed file as a PDF and then inserted it directly into OneNote. Didn't give me the larger file that I needed to see.

You mean, you only see the icon of the file and not the file itself?

Why not just mark up the PDF directly? Or have the PDF in a window to the side of OneNote?

OneNote keeps things organized, you should be able to open it up right into OneNote and make the changes. I will try a little later

I'm trying to figure this out as well. I'm not finding the marking up of PDF's in onenote to be very convenient. If I insert as printout it seems to split out the pages and then any markup is in the note overlaying the pdf, but not actually annotating a layer in the pdf. If I insert the pdf as an attachment and launch it into drawboard, my annotations there don't seem to save to the file attached in onenote.

So far it only seems to make sense to keep the PDF's from OneNote unless they are really going to be static in nature. I did find an option, if you right-click on the image in Onenote, you get a "View in original size" option which may help you.

Once you’ve annotated the PDF in OneNote, you can export it as a PDF while saving all of the annotations within the PDF.

I haven't experienced these issues. When I have a PDF I want to send to OneNote I do it through the Printer "Send to OneNote". I'm typically working with PDF's between 10-30 pages long and send them as a single section. I haven't had any issue getting it to a size that I can work with, but it should be noted that I'm working with standard 8.5x11 sized outputs. Thinking about it, I can't seem to zoom in on the file meaningfully. If your output size is larger than 8.5x11 but it's shrinking to fit to OneNote that might cause an issue? I love penning in OneNote, but have also been using Drawboard for a annotating PDFs lately.

The downside is that it sends it as an attachment.

You can also mark up PDFs using Microsoft's PDF Reader app. I've tried it, but I don't know how to (or if you can) change the mark up color.

Thanks for all the answers but guess I'm still not getting it. Couple of things.

When I fill out the call plan I save it as a printed file. That turns it into a PDF saved file. I'd like to mark it up but maybe I'm not using the proper app for that? I used Evernote on Android and worked perfectly to annotate directly in the app and save it there too.

I used the Print to OneNote option but that produced a very shrunk down file that I could not really read that well let alone mark up.

I like the idea of splitting the screen but don't really know what app I can use to make that happen. Is there a good PDF app for SP3 that utilizes the pen feature?

Sorry for issues here that might seem basic but it's been a long time using Microsoft so trying to adjust.

No it doesn't. The Evernote App for Windows doesn't have nearly the features that Android and ios offers unfortunately.

I use Bluebeam Revu to edit and annotate .pdf files on the SP3. It's fast and you can zoom in and change pen widths if that's an issue. I highly recommend this program to anyone who does a lot of work with .pdf files

MSFT's PDF Reader app allows you to mark up PDF's and then save them.

I have never heard of bluebeam review, is it a windows 8 app, classic app?

Try out Drawboard PDF. Probably the best ModernUI PDF annotator there is right now.

Just went to the homepage of bluebeam, this application is $219. A little out of my price range but it looks like a great app.

The free, included version of OneNote doesn't have the most robust feature set, but OneNote 2013 can do all this on the SP3. You can drop in the PDF, change the size to fit your liking, then mark it up with the pen, including highlighting, and write notes in the margins, cut/copy/paste text, etc.

Great for meetings. I use it to paste in the adgenda and take notes right on it as if it were paper.

For Agendas how do you put the agenda into one note, take a picture of it?
