I've sold my Galaxy Nexus. Android is great in a lot of ways...lacking in others. I'm over it. Time for something new.

After agonizing over whether to go Windows Phone or BlackBerry and doing a ton of research, including reading over WPC forums, I've ordered a Lumia 521.

I figure for $130 I'm not taking a huge risk, and it looks like a great phone for the price.

If I hate WP8, I can sell the 521 and go with something else. If I love it, I'll probably eventually upgrade to a Lumia 928. I'm hoping that's the case, because I think of all the mobile platforms out there, Windows Phone has the most potential.

I'm looking forward to continued participation in this great community!

Welcome to Wpcentral man. Hope you loved your Lumia 521. you should ask what type of apps you like to other people here. :-D

stand out of the crowd man lol. :-)

Welcome, Newfangled!

Now, allow me to tell you I paid twice as much for my 620.

So, you got an amazing deal. I hope that amazing deal leads you into this amazing world!

It's great and smart that you are able to dip your toe in the WP waters in such a low cost manner. And if it goes well and you want to continue with a phone with more oomph, you can upgrade. Hopefully the 521 will be a good experience and introduction to the phone. Welcome aboard, there are plenty of pretty sharp posters here that can help with any questions you might have. Plus there is a ton of stuff in the forums.

I have Lumia 920 and I'm planning to purchase a 520 as my secondary phone to be used primarily for checking mails, surfing the net, and listening to music when I'm out and about.

By all accounts I've read, I think the 521 is and will continue to be a hit. The reviews and reaction have been positive, and stores can't keep it in stock. I checked Walmart's website multiple times a day all week and quickly ordered my 521 yesterday when I saw it in stock. I checked 30 minutes later and it was out of stock again. I really hope it wasn't a fluke and that Walmart is able to honor my order! :s

Android phones at that same price point don't deliver the same amount of features and performance. I'm hoping it really takes off in the low-end market and helps Windows Phone eat away at Android's market share a bit.

An employee at my local Walmart told me they got a total of 4, and one person bought all of them. I'm guessing either he was outfitting his family or flipping them on eBay. A couple weeks later I saw they had 3 on the shelf, and the last time I checked, at least a week after I first saw them there, they were still there.

I can vouch for that! I had a low cost Android, and while it actually ran well, the Lumia 521 is better. Actually, for average use (calling, texting, browsing, email, Facebook), the 521 runs WP8 about as well as the 920 I had for awhile. I really can't tell much difference in performance.

I just got a shipping confirmation email from Walmart with a tracking number. What a relief! I was afraid they would cancel it due to not having it in stock or something.

I'm exited to try Windows Phone!

I got my 521 yesterday afternoon and had my number ported overnight to T-Mobile. I'm still getting used to things, but I am very impressed so far! I'll write up a detailed review after I've used it for a week or so.
