First things first I absolutely love the 1520! I upgraded from a 2 year Lumia 800 and wp7 really feel like a beta compared.

I have a class 10 sandisk sd card and have found that when using the nokia (pro) camera I get stuttering on playback, but when using the standard camera I see no problems. What would be the way to notify nokia of this potential bug?

Does anyone else have this issue?

Class 10 doesn't mean much to be honest. What's the specific brand and model of your MicroSD card?

I'm seeing a lot of people reporting problems with that ultra model. There are a ton of knockoffs that look real being sold.

Did you order directly from a retailer (or pick it up in person at a retailer) or did you order from eBay or a 3rd party seller on Amazon or other site?

I use the extreme model, have not seen any problems as of yet. A pity the ultra does not work well.

I ordered it from the link I provided.
Is there a difference between the recording quality of the two apps? Both are set to default.

Ill do further tests with both today.

So I set both apps to 1080p Nokia camera stutters every few seconds where as the camera lens works perfectly.

Hello again,

I have done a few more tests and shooting the Nokia cam (pro) in 720p to the SD card causes stuttering.

So unless there's some difference between the way that the Nokia cam and the cam records 720p and 1080p it look like it's an issue with the Nokia pro cam app instead the SD card.

It gets even more confusing: I've found that using the Nokia cam to play back videos causes stuttering, playing them back via my pc using the native w8.1 app also causes stuttering but when I use vlc they are buttery smooth.

Someone out there must know what's going on? Is this a codec issue?

How is vlc reading them happily but not Nokia cam or w8 video player?

I found the same problem: video taken by Nokia camera stutters around once every 15 seconds and seriously; video taken by camera stutters around once or twice every minute and slightly. Both stutter if you watch carefully or play it on PC.

Then I removed my Sandisk class10 64GB micro SD, and the stuttering is gone. Clearly this is due to the speed of SD. We may need to use Extreme SD. If anybody tests Extreme SD please report, thanks.

I have now tried this card with a variety of card memory testers and it writes a minimum of 8mbps and tops out at 12mbps. So this should handle 1080p ok.

I have the same card model, SanDisk ultra sdxc 64gb. I've problem on both Nokia camera and default camera. I'm quite sure its not a knock off, like what was mentioned above the write speed is around 9-10mb/s. I think its just the quality of SanDisk card. Anyone using non SanDisk card is having/not having this problem?

9-10MBps is not the speed these cards should be running at if they are genuine. The ultra series (genuine) should run at closer to 3 times that speed.

Try the Lexar card. They rate theirs for 90mb supposedly. Will be trying it soon myself.

I'm having the same problem on playback with it stuttering... Its only on the phone though... When I import the videos to my mac using nokia photo transfer it plays fine...on my Macbook. I think its just a bug in the phone itself. Recording video is a "harder" task, much more than video playback. I'm also using the sandisk ultra...

Today I replaced Sandisk Ultra Micro SD with Sandisk Extreme Micro SD, now stutter is completely gone! So it is all about speed of Micro SD.

I'm still confused by all of this. If I use the regular camera, instead of Nokia camera, I don't get any stutter or messed up audio while playing it on my phone or computer. Also, if I do record a video with the Nokia camera and it stutters, then save it to my computer and play it via VLC it works fine. Maybe there are multiple problems going on but I don't think mine is a SD card speed issue.
