Virus Popup

As of 7/14/13 I still get this virus popup trying to get me to install malware. This is making me not want to visit WPCentral if there is a chance I'm going to be hounded by malware trying to install on my systems.

@All - thanks again for the continued reports. Tech is still researching and investigating, AND implementing some fixes. Actions are being taken, is just taking some time to hunt out and destroy all of the bad stuff.

Is there any chance that a scheme can be put in place (paid or unpaid) where community members don't need to see the advertising at all? Personally speaking, I have no intention at all in clicking on ad links. If I want to buy something mentioned in an ad, I'll go right to the horses mouth (since I don't know where the ad-click target will end up).

For at least two months there have been viruses floating around the major ad distributers, flooding many respectable sites with a virus that (afaik) has not been addressed by windows defender yet. I accidentally clicked it once inside ie10 and it was all over- defender was destroyed by the virus, and while I was pretty sure the MS standalone anti malware got rid of it, I could not get defender back in working order so I was forced to format (silly 8 not letting me simply uninstall and reinstall it).

Quick update:

We have some 'bad ads' that our advertising partner has been serving up in rotation. The ad partner has been contacted with the request to remove these ads immediately.

We're not sure how long the change will take to propagate, but in the meantime, please keep reporting anything you find. We appreciate it!

I know we are over simplifying how all this is handled (plus the business side), but at what point do you just leave the ad company and find one more dedicated to providing quality service. Guarantee they have known about this for some time. Being able to redirect a site without any action (compared to forwarding clicks off to bad sites) shows the lack of control they have over their own product. I have had lockup or major slow down issues on other sites that used the same ad company.

Assuming you don't get paid when things like Ad Block Plus keeps your ads from showing (let me know if this is wrong), I have tried to view your site only in IE. I have moved over to Firefox now for safety reasons. I haven't had a virus/malware in years (that I know of). Really don't want to start now!

All that said, thanks James for responding and keeping us updated!

I got that spoof a few times it try's to trick you into thinking it's defender it will list three Trojans and ask if you want to wipe it. DON'T DO IT!!! It will try to install their version sw/trojan!!!
It also did this in the morning when clicking on the forums link.
