Volume buttons not working under lock

Alright so call it strange, but whenever I play some music (using XBM) and I lock the phone, I can't change the volume when the phone is locked (the buttons don't change the volume). However, if I press the power button to show the lock screen, I can change the volume. This problem only became noticeable after I joined the dev preview program for WP8.1 back in May and it's been in and off ever since. Anyone had this issue before?

It happens to me that after locking the screen I gotta press twice the lock button.. I mean lock and unlock the screen.. And after that I'm able to change volume without problem

Interesting...maybe it's the XBM app itself and not 8.1...I'll try it with another music app from the Store when I get home and see what happens

Alright, so I tested it with OneMusic off the store and volume buttons work perfectly. So it just must be XBM

Now and then I have the same problem. I didn't identified the cause yet.

And I'm not on the Dev Preview.
