W10M voice commands and dictation stopped working

A few days ago my 950 stopped responding to commands and dictation. Cortana registers that I'm speaking, the phone and voice recorder work proving the mic works. I keep getting "I've hit a hiccup. Please try later" and other cheery error messages. I tried switching out of and back into my English United States region, language and keyboard hoping to reset the voice capability. But no dice. So now my Smart phone is a little stupid. Anyone have any experience or suggestions? I'm a heavy dictation user.

So after flipping settings and rebooting for a couple hours, then giving up, 24 hours later it works again, just like that.

Cortana is server based, thus she needs an internet connection to work properly. If your connection was fine, it's possible something was down on Microsoft's end. I've had this happen before too.

I'm guessing it was MS but I haven't seen any other complaints. My problems happened in widely varied places. Boy, it really took the fun out of my phone.
