Here's an update on paying with MS Wallet (connected to a Bank Of America debit/checking account);

Duane Reade; just hold up the phone with wallet/nfc on, and it'll come on asking for authentication via PIN or IRIS recognition. That's it. No signature or PIN on keypad - it's all done on the phone.

Yellow and Green cabs in NY; same as above. I hold up the phone with nfc/wallet on, phone activates asking for authentication, it scans my iris, done.

After each transaction I get an immediate notification via SMS that the transaction has taken place.

Very nice!

There's no PIN entry or iris scan for me ever. Used it many times over the last few weeks with BOA debit card. The phone is unlocked by me, so no other confirmation needed. Maybe you don't have your phone set to require a PIN to unlock?

I think I was unclear maybe. If by "the phone is unlocked by me" you mean that you unlock the phone one way or another, i.e. that the phone is 'asleep', you wake it up and unlock it, and then you perform the transaction, then we mean the same thing.

If I'm in a cab and the phone is asleep and I hold it up to pay then it needs to unlock, and that's when I use the iris scan to do it. That's what I meant. And I think that's how it should be since otherwise anyone stealing the phone could pay for things without authentication.
