Wow, there are so many awesome shots in this thread!! Here's my entry.
Last night's sunset was really spectacular. We were lucky enough to be outdoors, at a park, to enjoy it. I was taking pictures of the sunset when I stumbled upon this nicely constructed sand castle. Immediately, I imagined a picture of the sand castle with the sunset across the bay in the background. I had to get down in the sand to take this picture. I wondered if my Lumia 920 could create a bokeh effect with the background out of focus. I had one concern however - shooting into a sunset usually results in darker foregrounds, creating nice silhouettes. But I wanted the foreground to be brightly lit. So if I were to tap and focus on the sandcastle, it would accomplish that, however with the negative side effect of overexposing the background and ruining the wonderful colors in the sunset. So I used the manual controls, set the focus on the castle, brought down the EV so as to not wash out the background colors and took this snap. Came out lovely, IMHO (even has the bokeh effect). Of course, I had to brighten up the foreground a bit using post-processing apps. I used Adobe Photoshop Express and Fotor to enhance the photo a bit.
Thanks for your time. Good luck everybody!
