What action brings up search/Cortana?

The search/Cortana box on the left hand side of the screen constantly pops up, usually whilst scrolling or otherwise using the trackpad. Is there a way of turning this off as it's really annoying having it opening all the time when I dont want it.

Yes, you can turn it off by not clicking the button on the bottom right LOL. Slow down with scrolling, you do full length scroll, you are hitting the button

Right Click the task bar, go to Cortana -> Hidden

That's how you hide Cortana. There was an article about it near the beginning of when Windows 10 came out last year.
