This app is not available for your device / Outlook / rotation problem

Hello everyone,

Just bought a Lumia 920 used by a friend of mine for few days. i must admit that i'm loving the WP 8.1 experience ( this is my first smartphone ) great device.

But i have few 3 questions:

- Some applications - when i try to download them - are not available for download even they are available in other devices in my country. ( example of application Badoo )

- after 2 days of using this great device, i figured out that the auto rotation does not work, i read few posts in google and they say something to do with censors, i hard reset my device and it worked again! but few mins later it stopped working, is it a software update issue or what cause if it was a hardware problem it would not work after the hard reset.

- last question, when i look for outlook in the store application, i can't find it. any ideas why.

- random requests, since i'm new in the windows phone world, any great essential apps to download.

Thank you a lot.

Re: This app is not available for your device / Outlook / rotation problem

I can't help on all of the, but there is not Outlook for this phone. It has a pretty decent email client built in, which can connect to exchange.
You can add accounts from settings - email + accounts

For the auto rotation, it could be a hardware fault if it had been dropped or anything.

Most of the built in applications are really good. Look for any apps that start with 6XXX like 6Tag, or 6gram, Rudy has the best apps out there. There are also some good calendar apps.

Re: This app is not available for your device / Outlook / rotation problem

Hello,

I see that Badoo is available for Windows Phone, but I am not sure why you can install it. Are you not finding it in your Store when you search for it, or do you get an error when you try to install it? More information would be helpful there.

I had an issue with my 920 where the screen rotation didn't work for a few days. I powered the phone off for about an hour and it worked fine after that and never had any further issue with it. Hopefully that will solve the issue for you too. Also, make sure that screen rotation lock isn't activated. If you have Windows Phone 8.1, you can swipe downward from the top of the screen to open the Action Center. There are four buttons across the top, one of them is ROTATION LOCK, by default the far right button. Make sure that the button is not lit up.

Mail on Windows Phone isn't called Outlook. Go to Settings, then EMAIL + ACCOUNTS. Here is where you can add more email accounts to your mail. Once you add the account to your phone, it will appear in your app list by a name you offer. For instance, if you add a gmail account, it will appear as "Google Mail" in my app list by default, but that can be changed in the account settings page.

Good luck and welcome to WP!

'Screen rotation' is a setting. Try cycling it off and on.
Check the settings for language and region.
Do you have the phone setup using your own Microsoft account? very necessary

Yes, i have google mail by setting up my account, great client. but i was wondering why no outlook after the hard reset because the guy who sold it to me used it in the same device. never mind, i'll keep using that client but i was just curious.

Thank you for your answer

Yes, i set up these things after the hard reset. and yea i know about that setting but still it does not work :/ not a big issure. i managed to find a great browser which rotate youtube videos when they go full screen and same for the "Dailymotion" app. the browser i'm using is : UC Browser. thank you for your answer and yea i'll try to check my region setting because one thing i didnt mention when i visit store, no free apps appear with a different currency with my local one. i'll try to check that out.
