I come from Android with almost every single antivirus and security suit known to man, which is why I was surprised when I searched the wp app store and didn't find a single reputable anti virus or mobile security suit. There are all these small ones I've never heard of before. No Norton, bit defender, comodo, Kaspersky, avira, eset, Dr web, Qiho 360, f secure, lookout or g data.

So thats why I ask for your recommendations as I'm clueless.

Yep, these guys are right. Because of WP's restrictions for apps, they can't access the system as deep as Android apps.

Windows Phone is like iOS, in that every app is vetted before being allowed into the store. The result is that no malware protection is needed.

Also, in Android anti-malware has no special privileges, so is of little actual use and you are actually just open to the risk anyway.

That and Google's invasive policy toward its user's personal data is why I won't allow any Android device in my home.

Because WP8 don't need any anti virus

Then what about a security suit to erase your data and locate your phone through GPS if it should be stolen ?

Then there's anti phishing but I'm not sure how good ie is with this.

I mean even ios has several anti viruses to choose from.

location is built in. Go to the Windows Phone website and you can login and track your phone and I think you can erase it. Can't remember though.

WP is a closed system (i.e. only apps aproved by MS can be installed) and thus the chance of getting malware is veeery low. Also, the very same nature of the system would make any antivirus app unable to perform any function, not being able to acces the system at a low level. In the end both antivirus and virus need low level acces. WP does not allow it by design, like iOS.

I would like to see one of those "iOS Antivirus" ?Link? :orly:

Windows Phone not only does not need any type of apps like antivirus, memory optimizer, wifi buster and etc., but also none of those apps, currently in store, can really do what they pretend to do.

the second isn't even an antivirus.

the first one in no way is useful as iOS is strict.

Bottom line, even Android currently doesn't need antivirus if you have common sense.

Windows Phone has no virii for it due to a mix of relative lack of market share and currently watertight security.

Dont worry about it, just enjoy the phone. We aren't being careless or apathetic, there simply are no serious malware out there and won't be for a long time.
