What are some of the best mid-to-high range laptops available right now?

I had originally been planning on buying the Surface Book 2, but the price seems a little high. What would be a solid alternative in the range of about $1000 give or take a few hundred?

Ideally I'd be looking for something that is a 2-in-1 or convertible with the possibility of Inking support. I'm also very open to the Surface Laptop. Everything else is fair game!
