Strange... Rdlm's OS is a different one than mine so I tried to update my phone but it said it was up to date. Strange!

Different carriers have different revisions on the OS and radio firmware, etc.

Does that affect Microsoft's updates? As in, do I still need to wait for Orange to release the new OS firmwares or it's via Microsoft?

no it will not affect Microsoft updates....there are varying #'s because of different carriers, how there networks works, etc....we all have the same thing except differences that makes the phones compatible with the networks or in the 8x on Verizon, being unlocked...

But not every phone is getting WP7.8 or even WP7.5 which contradicts that we get updates directly from Microsoft.
