Okay, so I have disassembled the phone, and found the internal "drive" (happens to be just another micro SD card). Am ooen to options as to how to remove the metal shielding around this internal drive, so that I can safely remove the stock version, move complete contents onto a micro sd 32gb card, and insert in its place, and reassemble again... Also what is the basis of the device used for the memory (stock is under 1gb, & is seriously not enough either)??

Welcome to Windows Central! We are all about Windows products here. You would have better luck finding help with that here:

I'm not sure how advisable it si to perform such surgery on your phone. Good luck.

While this isn't the first time I've seen someone talk about (and successfully) upgrade the internal SD card of a phone like that (throwback to people upgrading the... I think it was the HTC HD7?), you risk opening a whole can of worms and I don't know if anyone's done this before you. You're in somewhat uncharted territory and all I can say is to be cautious.

And as for maximum size, probably a card worth more than the phone itself is worth.
