Ok So I'm thinking of upgrading (since it's free) to the HTC Arrive on sprint. It's not really what I want but my Pre is starting to act up a bit and there's currently nothing else. If I do this I won't be able to upgrade again for 20 long months. So should I wait and see what Nokia & Microsoft are cookin or just take the plunge now? I want a normal size screen (4.7 inches) no more tiny phones for me.

Hey preluva

if I was you id just wait it out , or simply buy a USED one online or something for 100-200$ tops....

4.7 is pretty big for a screen , but if the NOKIA 900 comming out in a couple weeks dont meet your needs (4.3, and willing to go to AT&T), you can always wait for the Apollo phones ( and buy that used phone online to past the next 5-6 months )

Never thought I would see someone use "normal size screen" and "4.7 inch" in the same sentence. Oh well. Too big for me.

Take this chance to leave sprint with their slow speeds and goto a much better carrier like T-Mobile, you can get an HD7 off eBay in near new condition like I did and when a better WP comes out around the fall you can upgrade from that. Or you can wait till T-mobile refarms their network in your area after which then you can use an AT&T WP or any unlocked WP. I do not recommend staying with sprint, their slow speeds will cripple the experience you get, for example my live tiles would rarely update, my people hub was slow loading updates and the arrive was always hot while trying to poll for a better signal.

The Arrive is a great phone but there is no reason to commit to it for 2 years. Be patient and wait it out.

Actually I consider 4.7 small! Lets face it the tablet IS the new smart phone! I have a HP Touchpad and if it had phone capabilites built in I'd be in happy as a clam. Who needs another device? Add a blue tooth and your good to go. :D

Oh yeah as for switching carriers not happening. I have no loyalty to this one or that one, I'm just lazy! Plus I get a discount and Sprint has unlimted data unlike the others.
