What's 640 xl LTE?

I was searching for 640 xl online n found that 640 xl LTE is 500rs less compared to normal 640 xl... I'm not sure what LTE means? Should I buy it? Will normal sim cards work on LTE?

Second query - will all apps that work on L620 work on 640xl as well? I must have few railway related apps on L640xl n there's an app called "NTES" which I must have in my phone... Will it work?
P.S I'm from India! N using win8.1

LTE means the phone supports 4G internet speeds which are faster than the 3G and 2G networks. (not quite as widely implemented in India). However, I think you should get the LTE.. especially if you are getting it for ₹500 less than the normal 640XL with dual sim. You'll be future ready.
All the apps that you used on your Lumia 620 will work on the Lumia 640XL. Including the NTES app.

The Lumia 640 XL LTE is a variant of the 640 XL - it means that (depending on the carrier), your phone can get LTE data signal, which is typically faster than others. I don't know what carriers are in India and which ones support LTE, so you'll have to go and ask. Even though the LTE version has, well, LTE, it doesn't seem to have all the networks, so, again, ask which carrier would support it. If it was me, I would get the LTE variant.

NTES is a transportation system app right? I've seen others around here with that app and it works with Windows 8.1 (and Windows 10 Mobile) - All apps from your 620 should work with a 640, no matter the variant.

I like to add that, LTE is generally A LOT faster than HSPDA or 3G.
Considering the state of networks in India, there is a lot more to be desired.
