So, we're seeing a tonne of redundant threads being made, asking about Developers previews for specific devices and asking questions that have been answered multiple times. Are we letting these threads go, or closing them and directing them to a central source? I can only see this getting worse over the next week so it'd really help if I can direct the Ambassadors with our approach so they know what to reply, what threads need making and when to report something.

I'd much rather merge threads than lock them. It would be nice if Ambassadors also linked existing threads/sticky when they report redundant threads. It would make our jobs a little easier.

I've told them to redirect people, make bookmarks of the most useful threads so they can redirect people quicker, and report threads that are asking the same questions etc.

I think you should reinstate Morpheus and give him his own AMA thread. Then just point everyone there.

There were so many locked threads on the first page they might of outnumbered the open threads. I went through and deleted all the locked threads. It may look hideous to us but at least the posters will see mostly open and active threads.

I'm done! Best new feature? Check for updates button in the store!!!!!

Updated!

I was really worried that 8.1 wouldn't run well on my aging 920 but everything is running great!

Installed it and playing with it. I am shocked with the influx of negative threads on this forum. I have ZERO issues. The only one being store. Cortana is being mean to me and throwing me bing search results 9 out of 10 times but that is ok. All the other threads make me want to throw my laptop on my window, seriously.

I am merging threads and moving them. But I just moved about 52 threads from WP8.1 to Dev Preview forum. I mean WTF! I seriously haven't seen such traffic even with Mango!
These guys are really pushing their luck with individual threads though. I think we need two or three big stickies and close those multiple threads for now or merge, whatever makes sense for that topic.

Anybody knows about this "canned replies" - is it possible to add more templates to that drop down? It seems very useful to see that developer spotlight message has been now added to that list so all you do is select it and saves you copy and pasting things.

Can we make canned replies for:
"Please use search button and post in correct forums"
"Please use Dev Preview forum for this query"
"Please use blah blah"

That will be handy to clean up!

I'll update everyone on canned replies. It's a feature being brought back that used to exist a long time ago on CB only. Apparently, there were issues with it taking up too much server space. From what I understand, the Team Leaders at all sites will collaborate on Google Docs to get these done, and then we will be able to customize them for our own sites.

Are we still moving gripes from 8.1 to dev preview? It feels like 8.1 has to be blocked for users from creating new thread.

I swear I've moved over a 100 threads in less than 5 hours from 8.1 to preview - its about people moaning and ******** about an update they've installed and haven't bothered to educate themselves about - dev preview.

Laura is it possible that we make 8.1 view only for a few days till the message goes across that Dev Preview related issues should stay in Dev Preview. WP8.1 official isn't even out yet and those bug related threads in WP8.1 is making it look like Microsoft screwed up 8.1 update.

First 9 pages are in WP8.1 are only about moaning about dev preview. Last night when I slept it had not one thread about dev preview in it! Heartbreaking, I tell you.

Man the forums have been crazily busy this last day or two and most of it is people complaining about the same things. I'm closing threads or moving them where appropriate to Dev Preview like rocky but it's just getting overwhelming.

This. Either we have too many new iPhone users jumping on this update or we just have discovered a group of our users who were always this silly! I mean how many freaking times can you ask "where is my integrated messaging hub?" or "phone getting too hot?" - do a damn hard reset! My 81 year old uncle freaking did this update all by himself!

I'm wondering if it's gotten to the point where we should make [Official] sticky threads in Dev Preview for the main giants to stop this repetition. Something like:

  • [Official] Xbox Music Feedback & Issues Thread
  • [Official] Performance and Settings Feedback & Issues Thread
  • [Official] App Feedback & Issues Thread
  • [Official] Action Centre, Notifications & You Thread
  • [Official] Here's What I Like Thread
  • [Official] Here's What I Dislike Thread
  • [Official] Developer Preview Change List
  • [Official] Initial Thoughts & Feedback Thread
  • [Official] Developer Preview Bugs & Defects Thread
