What's the status of HERE maps and would you still recommend it?

HERE has been my go to mapping service long before Nokia sold the division. But since then, updates about HERE maps have seemingly dried up. It makes me wonder if this new HERE consortium is really working to make HERE the best mapping service they can. What's your take? Is HERE still your GPS of choice?

And just to clarify, I'm referring to HERE on iOS and Android since we know HERE on Windows Phone has been abandoned.

I tried HERE maps when I first made the switch to Android over 3 years ago. However, it was buggy, so I deleted it. Now I use Google Maps and Waze.

I don't think it's POI database is up-to-snuff but if I have an address, its an acceptable solution IMO and offers unhindered offline maps which may be a strong point that the others may not have.

I went to using Waze when I migrated to Android. I find it much better than anything else.
