What's wrong with my back button?

If I'm not wrong, back button won't close apps in 8.1 to improve resuming speed, or simply works like iOS.
I installed the preview in my 1020 and not all apps work that way.
Calendar didn't close, but LINE / Instagram close.
Apps or OS problem?

It's because not all the apps are compiled for and compatible with WP8.1.
Once the developers of the apps compile them with 8.1 SDK with any code change if required, apps will behave in intended way.

Have noticed this since 8.1 has been installed, most apps close out but certain ones like Facebook, Calendar etc won't, not sure why that is but is a bit of a pain

I'm not sure that's completely accurate.

For example, "Tilesparency" and "Transparency Tiles" (yes, I like transparent tiles a LOT :-)) were both certainly built with the 8.1 SDK (since they use transparent tiles), but both close when you hit the <back> button, instead of suspending. But Calendar, Facebook, Podcasts, and others suspend rather than closing.

Seems to be up to the app developer, rather than the OS or the SDK.

Nothing wrong. Silverlight apps, all wp8.0 were silverlight, closes when you press back button, new apps Windows RunTime go to sleep. Even if you write for 8.1 SDK , but choose Silverlight, it will be closed on back button press
