Whatsapp Alert

Will we be able to change the whatsapp alert in 8.1 or will it be as now some random alert ?
My friend has a lumia 625 and doesn't get any alert just vibrate !
Or.....Or does whatsapp need to update itself ?

Yes wp8.1 will allow u to change notification sound of any app to according to ur desire from notification centre settings.
