Whatsapp messages no notification?

can anyone tell me how to set my 720 to recognize when a what'sapp message arrives

Allow it to run in the background.

From Windows phone in battery option.you can even set it to show updates in lockscreen.

Even I have this issue of not getting messages until I open the app. started after Cyan update :\ It is allowed to run in the background too. Same issue if used on Wi-Fi too.
