Whatsapp taking an unjust amount if storage space.

Whatsapp is using around 3.1 GB of internal space on my Lumina 730 with total memory space of
8 GB. I have cleared all the data from various chats and groups. Yet it takes 3.03 GB of internal space. Please Help people.

i am using redmi note 3 16gb with 2gb memory handset recently whatsapp eating my memory even though there is only 100mb of data but software showing 3gb ...
