When will AT&T decouple the 830 from Fitbit and/or reduce price?

With no new phones on the horizon, the least Microsoft could do is cut us a break on the current price of their "affordable flagship". I have no interest in a Fitbit, so why would I pay $100 (contract price) for a phone that should be no more than $50?

If Microsoft wants to move phones, they either need to produce a cutting edge, innovative device (a la the Surface 3 Pro), or slash prices. The Lumia 830 is horribly overpriced right now, and pairing it with a Fitbit inflates the price even further.

considering the 5xx and 6xx series being under $100 off contract, why should the 830 be $50 on contract? off contract it's $450, so a $350 discount and a free $100 accessory is a deal.. just sell the fitbit on ebay.

it'll drop eventually, but still newish.

Exactly :)
And no one here is going to be able to answer your question of "when will AT&T decouple......"
Only some upper AT&T execs :)

:)

$100 for a midrange phone on-contract is reasonable for the US market, where historically pricing was typically as such:
$200 newest flagship
$100 midrange model
$0-50 lower-mid-range models

Off contract phones were generally the cheaper ones way below the midrange.

Just sell the FitBit, or give it away. :) We don't know AT&T's plans.

I'm sure that $300 midrange iPhone would suite you. No fitbit there.

Just came from AMazon and they have five listings for unlocked 830's and the most expensive one is 319$. Can't really see how Microsoft can justify the 499$ price they are asking. Maybe I am missing something; but it sure looks a bit high what they are asking. The price of the 830 has gone down a good bit everywhere; BUT on the Microsoft site. I also see that some of the other WP phones has dissappeared from the listing. But the 735, 535, and 532 has not made an appearance.

MSRP is exactly that, manufacturer suggested retail price. It's not a mandated price, so retailers can technically charge whatever they want.

Well, technically the bundle offer ended on January 8, but they are still allowed to sell the bundles they have in stock until it's all gone.

I bought my AT&T 830 for $299 on eBay a couple of months ago. NIB, reputable seller, works fine. Then I walked into an AT&T store and they provided me with a nano SIM for free and got me set up. Sales clerk couldn't care less where I bought it from. Moral of the story: don't wait for AT&T, go buy it elsewhere. It's a great phone.
