When will istagram come ou

Every couple of days, I hop on to my Twitter account and post the following:

@instagram @instagramapp @instagramhelp PLEASE make a @windowsphone app. Or allow posting pics from 3rd party apps. PLEASE.

Think it would make a statement if every WP user with a Twitter account did the same thing? That same message coming from all of us? Hmm...

I definitely think so. I'm coping the accts immediately.

The Verge said they had heard about Microsoft making the app for Instagram using the APIs but that was later refuted by Instagram. And there was certainly no mention of this year. Do you really think they wouldn't have made a big deal about it when they launched the OS? Pandora gets a big slide but not Instagram? Doesn't make sense.

If you need Instagram or Google+ then I'm afraid you've been misled. Not coming to WP. Look at the sorry state of the Facebook app, "nuff said.

People saying "oh you don't need instagram, there's some random app that no one uses but has filters too!" are missing the point. Instagram is a social network. It's like having a phone without Facebook but then saying it's fine because there's Google plus...... Personally I don't use it that much (and I have an iPad in case I do need it) but a lot of people do. Not having fundamental apps like this is really going to hurt WP....

If destroying photos with preset filters is a "social network" then I'm glad its not on WP8

I think more import is the market share of users that have Instagram and use it to solely share to Facebook. That being said, any of the quality apps on the WP8 platform will enable the end user to (for sheer lack of better words...) "EDIT" photos and then share them from the gallery to Facebook.

When I had my iPhone instagram was one of the apps I used constantly. Knowing that wp8 didn't have the app and that there was not anything solid about the app coming to wp8, I still made the move. I do mess the app, but I love the wp8 and the 920 more. All depends on what you want.

You read some stupid things here. People love Instagram for the social aspects so even if other apps do the same thing that doesn't cut it. Also you can't post non edited photos on Instagram, no need to use the filters if that kills it for you. Not everyone is like masterchief1984, some people will not consider an OS that doesn't have it.

A popular service you use to interact with your friends = social network. I'm lol'ing at photo snobbery in the context of cellphone pictures as well. I understand people here are devoted to WP, but the ecosystem will never get better (and by extension, your experience with it) if the devs of the most important apps out today continue to ignore it.

No. no, no, no. Have you ever used instagram? Not only do a lot of people like and share photos within the instagram network exclusively, it also seamlessly integrates with Facebook. On my old iPhone the instagram and the facebook app talk to each other. No manual uploading required. No bootleg filter app you're describing can replicate the experience at all. I don't understand why you're justifying what should be a great OS missing incredibly popular features like this.

And for the record, I personally can live without instagram. HOWEVER, a lot of people in the 15-29 range will not find that acceptable. I also think it's just an good example of how MS has apparently failed to attract/build a good relationship with developers (Nokia seems to be doing a better job of that, but that's a whole other debate)

While this is true people got to understand that WP8 just started to make an impact on the mobile world for real. All we can do is wait. I have faith that we will have instagram soon.

Agreed with the above two posts, people here constantly wish success for WP but when it comes to very successful missing apps their reaction is "who cares, it's ****". New flash, many people won't take WP seriously if it's missing popular apps so you need to wish these apps make it to the OS instead of ****ting on them.

Masterchief, I see you use Instacam to check your Instagram account, may I suggest metro.am. It's very simple and supports live tile, it displays new photos on the tile.

"We're excited to expand to other platforms and understand the importance of making Instagram available to the millions of people without Apple iOS and Android devices. While building versions of Instagram for other platforms is certainly on our roadmap, we have nothing official to announce at this time."

Official reply from instagram.

Android just got instagram this year and there are way more android phones out there than WP, so I really doubt it will be available for this platform for a while. Hopefully we will get it sometime in 2013 if we're lucky.

No matter how you slice it, all it comes down to is uploading a photo with predetermined filters. All of that can be done with Nokia onboard software and shared to most social networking sites. And given that at the time when Facebook purchased Instagram, they referred to it as "a hot buzz with no business model" (add to that FB is allowing IG to remain independent of the FB monarchy) I wouldn't expect to see a WP8 app from them soon, IF ever. Sounds like IG ignoring a user base more than anything.

I'm sorry, if you actually think that just having an app that filters pictures is enough to replace instagram, you've obviously not used instagram, or at least not to it's full potential. Some random app with filters cannot replace an entire social network. How exactly do you suggest I follow my friend's streams or like their photos, etc? Get another, "instagram viewer" for that? And even then, I STILL can't update my own instagram. And even if I would just post everything to facebook anyway (and not everyone does that) why should I have to download some random app that doesn't even have the filters people like, save a picture, and then upload it to facebook? The true instagram experience is seamless.

Facebook and instagram ARE ignoring WP users because they believe there aren't enough of us for it to be worth it. But WP is never going to grow until it gets things like a real Facebook app and instagram because consumers will continue not to take it seriously. In this chicken and egg situation MS needs to be more aggressive about getting devs on board.
