Where did my download go?

I've downloaded a book in PDF format (not from the Store), at the end of which I was prompted to tap to open it, and whereupon I got the message that there was no app on the phone to access it. I then downloaded My File Manager from the Store. Question is - where are downloads stored on this phone?

It all depends on where you are set to save to as default.

There are 4 possibilities.
1. In Phone Storage under Documents. If you used an app to download the PDF, the app may have placed it in a subfolder under documents.
2. In SD card storage under Documents.
3. On OneDrive under Documents.
4. Under Downloads on either Phone Storage or SD card storage.

Thanks Rhapdog - found it under 'Other' in Storage Sense and was able to extract it from my laptop.

Well you could download Files and PDF reader from the store and save yourself from future troubles. Combined these two apps work really nice.

Well, I THOUGHT it was a PDF, until I opened the it on my laptop, where I discovered it was an RAR file.
