Where do I get a network profile for my Lumia 550?

where do I get a network profile for lumia 550

My Lumia 550 is not recognised by my Win 10 PC via the USB cable. When I tried to add a device, it said "Windows doesn't have a network profile for this device".

Which is not much good.

Download and install the Windows Phone App for Windiws 10 and then reconnect your 550:
Windows Phone sync capabilities | Synchronising your phone | Windows Phone How-to (Canada)

You may need to go to the website for your country.

Thanks for that, but the Phone App is already there (comes with Windows 10). I've read what there is to read, and on face of it the connection should work immediately. The phone works, however, with my laptop which has the same set up as far as possible.

I have tried rebooting, and powering down the phone, but I can't think what might be wrong. I guess it's just another MS mystery.

Sorted. The phone no longer likes the front USB ports on my Desktop, which I had used before reinstalling Windows 10. I think the front ports have packed up for whatever reason. A pity, because the rear ports are hard to get at.

Is it just your phone or does nothing else work with the front ports? Are they USB 3? If they're different from you rear ports it might be a driver issue. You said that you had reinstalled Windows.
