Where is my search bar

Since I have Cortana my search bar has completely disappeared. I always used it to find the apps I needed quickly. But now even if I click on the Cortana field nothing happens,
Is there a way I can have my seach bar back or somehow that I can use Cortana to find my apps (without using my voice)

Right click on taskbar, select Cortana > Show search box.

Thats what I have but it doesn?t react when I click on it.

So I can see the search bar but not use it
