i read in a wpcentral article that vlc is coming to windows phone 8.................. where is it now????

I like VLC a lot and I supported them with the Kickstarter, but it really sucks that they have been dragging their feet a lot with the development, and there hasn't been any progress announced in a long time.

Have you asked them for an update? As a developer I'll also add that most people do not have any idea just how long it can take to write code for big projects, and this is a big project.

*sigh* there are so many threads about vlc. First, it has to come out for Windows 8, which for all intents and purposes is done already. They just have to fix an audio bug that got them rejected from the store. Then comes RT. I would expect the Windows Phone version to come with WP8.1 when they have that 77% shared API. So.... Probably April.

Big is an understatement lol. I think they said they have 8 million LoC

He probably inferred that since it would be much easier to code for WP8 and Win8 by that point in time, they could fix the Win8 app first then port it once WP8.1 is here.

Alright, I just emailed Jean-Baptiste and he said they've resubmitted and failed again due to the audio bug that they're still trying to fix.
