What app do you use for playing mkv videos? I'm using PressPlay video app, but I hate how it always has to check the file etc and I have some files that it can't even open.

I'm using Moli Player, so far it's been working fine.
It does cost be bit but I feel that's worth it.

Otherwise you might need to way for VLC.

Are you sure that you are using Moli Player on RT? Because I can't find it in the store. Same goes for CC player that Piyush Raja suggester..

it's got to be a fake. tons of VLC fakes in the store. VLC is still developing it.

No, I'm a backer, they sent me an email to test a beta release. It installs from the store. The beta isn't even closed to backers, anyone can get it.

But it doesn't seem to support RT just yet, unfortunately.

Well, today MS prepared us a nice surprice! Xbox video from now on supports mkv! I have tested it vith different videos and so far everything works flawlessly, even when opening a video on network drive. I just can't figure out how to add subtitles, if that is even possible:)

I just tested this out myself and so far it works good with 1080p videos on my surface 2 rt, I've only tried playing from my portable hard drive so far.
