Who decides what words are acceptable in Wordament?

I’ve been playing Wordament for years and I find it a challenging and relaxing way to spend downtime. One thing really bugs me though - the words that are not accepted despite being in common use! For instance “latin” - the language of ancient Rome and the basis of many English words!
Any suggestions?
