AT&T requires Band 17 for LTE (US), so this is a no-go. Same reason the 650 won't work on AT&T, grrrrr.

I may do something I've never done before. Buy an electronic device on the first day it's released. I usually wait until it's been available for about a month.

Eyeing it definitely. I'm on Tmobile as well. Currently using a Note 4 for my work apps but have had many Lumias. Still have an 830 and 640. My main concern is how much better of an experience will that 820 give over the 400 in Windows 10 Mobile, and will it significantly be better than the 808/810 on the 950/XL....
Can go either way. I bought L640s for 3 family members the first day and they have been great. I pre-ordered 2 L950XLs and they were disasters but MS gave full refunds.I may do something I've never done before. Buy an electronic device on the first day it's released. Pretty sure physically the same. several articles that discuss the differences state that it is externally identical other than screen resolution. None mentioned any physical differences. Are the dimensions the same as the android one? If so at least the accessories will all fit.
I have mixed feelings. That was bad for MS but great for us. I must have given away a dozen unlocked L640s when I picked them up for ~$10 each. You could get an AT&T L640 for $79 with a one year Office365 license that sold separately for $69. Gave the phones to fence setters and sold some of the Office365 licenses and kept several for my own use since they never expire. And the phones could immediately be unlocked due to a quirk in AT&T practices.I worried about the availability of the phone a couple of months out. Remember the 640?
I thought AT&T was phasing out 17?
The 650 wont work on ATT? Thats weird because i own a 650 and have ATT. Of course the 650 works on AT&T, a lot of people who have 650s in the US i guarantee they have ATT.
You may be right, would be good to confirm. I was using an old WC post on phones & carriers & bands which said Bands 2/4/17, but maybe that is old and not updated. Just now referenced a site called WillMyPhoneWork.net and it shows the Alcatel Idol 4s model 6070O as compatible using Band 12.
this is still bigger than I want but may have to consider it just 'cause my L635 is on its last leg (and not W10)
I don't have a 650, but looked it up on GSM Arena and bands don't match up. I am only speaking of LTE (would not get a phone without that speed). According to them the 650 Dual Sim has Bands 1/3/7/8/20, not Band 17 or Band 12. this is all more complex than it should be!
