Why am I getting We're having trouble getting data only with personal notifications on Facebook?

In facebook, why am I getting "We're having trouble getting data" only with personal notifications

When I tap on notifications that are based on something related to me (i.e 'Someone liked your post', 'Someone commented on your post') the app tells me "We're having trouble getting data". This only happens for those notifications, and I don't know why.

I linked the facebook account through the phone, so why is this happening?

I should also probably mention that when the app asks to link the address initially after logging in, and I hit 'ok', nothing happens, even though I am on a WiFi network. I had to link it using the website.
